Every Pierre Pershing artwork is uniquely crafted, in styles of minimalism or abstract expressionism. These two styles are also at times composed into one work, creating a beautiful, multi-layered composition.
Through his work, the artist seeks to create bespoke statements of high art, refinement and luxury. He believes that every element (line, splatter or stroke) should be unique in its purpose and placement, every canvas tailored in its size and form, and every art personal to the art owner or commissioner. And finally, every Pierre Pershing work should be complimentary to its location and space.
The artist draws inspiration from Architecture, Geometry, Interior Design and Industrial Design, as well as Music, Pop Culture and Numerology. He is fond of artists such as Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko, Donald Judd and Paul Kremer.
Education
Graduated from OCAD University's Environmental Design Program with a Bachelor of Design. During his undergrad, he also completed a semester abroad at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design in Copenhagen, Denmark.
The Signature
The Philosophy
Art Defined by Interior
The artist uses interior wall paint as a medium to harmonize the canvas with the colors and expressions of the space. By blending the structured geometry of Minimalism with the erratic gestures of Abstract Expressionism, these works serve as both intentional focal points and seamless extensions of the interior.
With every canvas carefully selected or custom made, the goal is to create a bespoke work that enriches its environment. When a Pierre Pershing piece is commissioned, the unique ambiance of the interior is deeply considered. This space informs the color palette and composition, ensuring the final work is a holistic extension of its surroundings.
His work explores Minimalist and Abstract Expressionist styles, fusing together structured geometric blocks and fluid gestures — at times controlled, at times erratic. The interplay of texture, form and negative space create a visual language that is both intentional and expansive, echoing the organized chaos of modern environments.
Wall paint is used as a medium to harmonize the texture and colour to its complimentary interior surfaces. While an exclusive signature of Pierre Pershing, it also allows to achieve colour matching that is superior to traditional mediums. The client thus becomes a fundamental part of the process, working together with the artist to inspire and develop a modern, distinctive piece of work.
